Meet the Liverpool Pilots
In these interviews the Liverpool Pilots talk about their experiences, including the major role they played to ensure that the visit of the three Cunard Queens to Liverpool went smoothly.
These interviews with retired and current Liverpool Pilots were originally shown in the former exhibition In safe hands: the story of the Liverpool Pilots at Merseyside Maritime Museum, which explored the story of the Pilotage Service over the last 250 years.
The Three Queens
The Cunard liners Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria came to Liverpool in May 2015 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Cunard Line. On each liner was a Liverpool Pilot who was responsible for the ship during this major event.
What makes a good pilot?
Three retired Liverpool Pilots discuss the qualities that pilots need in order to do this highly skilful job, safely guiding the ships that visit the port of Liverpool.
