PLACENAME: Hongfield (first mentioned 1642). A field on a slope. From Middle English 'hange' and Old English 'feld'. Annfield 1786.
Anfield football stadium first housed Everton Football Club from 1884-1892. The oldest section of the current stadium is the lower area of the main stand, which dates to 1895.
