Brimstage Hall (1398) was built by Sir Hugh Hulse and his wife, who obtained a licence for an oratory. This may be the section at the south end of the present building. There has been much rebuilding of the structure. It is thought that the area was once a moated site (listed Grade I).

Burnt flint artefacts have been found in the south of the township, which could suggest activity here in the bronze age.
