Clubmoor

PLACENAME: Marked on maps as Club Moor (eg on the 1838 Tithe Map). The name indicates that this area was once moor land.

A polished stone axe or hammer (possibly bronze age) was found at Clubmoor recreation ground during excavations for air raid shelters during the Second World War.

Farmers Arms public house

The Farmer's Arms (1920s) is a rebuild of a public house of the same name on the same site, which was recorded on the first edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey map. A 19th century bowling green behind the pub still exists.
