PLACENAME: Fairfield is marked on Yates' 1786 map. The name indicates that this area was considered good land.

The Jewish Cemetery (c1836) on Kensington is now abandoned. The entrance bears the inscription 'Here the weary are at rest' (listed Grade II).

A Roman coin has been discovered on Lister Crescent in the settlement core.

Fairfield Hall was marked on Yates and Perry's 'Map of the Environs of Leverpool' in 1768. It was built by E Falkner, after whom Falkner Square is named. Falkner was an 18th century merchant, and High Sheriff of Lancashire.
