Landican

PLACENAME: Landechene (first mentioned 1086 in the Domesday Book). The church of St Tecan or Tegan's Church. From Llan, meaning church in Welsh and the saint's or personal name Tegan. Alternative ending is decem meaning ten in Latin or decanus, a dean. Alternatively Landechene meaning the church of the oak. Landekan 1240; Lankekan 1347; Lancan 1539.

Landican cemetary

There is an extensive cemetery (1934) on a flat area of land in the north west of the township. It includes chapels and a crematorium.

An undated quern or grain grinder has been discovered near Landican Lane to the north of the settlement core.

There is a Medieval fishpond north of Landican Lane, now somewhat overgrown with reeds and used by cattle as a drinking pond.
