PLACENAME: Bedintone (first mentioned 1096). Bebba's farm. Personal name Bebba and tün. The distinction between the two Bebingtons is first recorded in the 13th century. 'Lower' prefix in use by 1882, previously Inferior Bebinton (first mentioned c1280). Higher Bebinton 1280; Bebington 1666.
St Andrew's Church (Medieval). The south aisle was widened c1300. Chapels were added to the north and south in the mid 14th century in the perpendicular style (listed Grade I).
Port Sunlight Village was created as workers' housing for the Lever Soap Factory by William Hesketh Lever c1888.
