The Viking people came from three countries of Scandinavia: Denmark, Norway and Sweden. They settled in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England around 800 AD to 1050 AD. Place names suggest that they established several of the settlements which still survive in Wirral. The Huxley Hoard, recently found in Cheshire, is an impressive collection of Viking silver which is thought to date from around 900-910AD. Several of these armlets have patterns which are very similar to others found in Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
