Wavertree

PLACENAME: Wauretreu (first mentioned 1086 in the Domesday Book). Wavering tree, possibly a reference to aspen trees, which are still common in the area. From Old English wæfre and treow. Wavertre 1196.

Picton Clock

The Picton Clock (1884) stands at the east end of the High Street.

A Wavertree urn

The Wavertree urns are Bronze Age burial urns which would have contained cremated ashes. They were discovered in 1867 when foundations were being dug for houses.
