Transcript for Jim Smith - workshop
We all had a work bench each and a vice etc. A lot of work was done with brass and soldering in them days, everything was made. Lathe work you would have to know all your sizes because everything we made was in what they called BA which was British American which is like clock screws in comparison to any other type of engineering. We were learning and we’d make things, unbelievable, out of nothing in a sense. You couldn’t buy the brass or whatever as you can in this day and age. You’d have to smelt the brass, press it, then cut the gears out for certain gauges or the back of a clock.
