Transcript for Jim Smith
We used to go to a particular pub in Wood Street and they had a little bar and it was called The Steering Wheel Bar. There were pictures of racing cars and the guy that owned it at the time was a racing driver. It was like a private club/bar and I would be invited to have a drink there with the posh ones and I’d be invited to have a drink with them. That’s where they did most of their socialising and they would not go in a normal pub, some of them were a bit rough and these were really scientific guys who studied.
