Transcript for Dennis Pyper
Interviewer: "What was special about that pub?"
Dennis: "Well there were two ladies, their names were Jean and Ann and they were characters in their own right. They certainly were. They left and went to the Tintern Abbey on Walton Road and we had this other lady who came there, the new licensee. She was a wrestler."
Interviewer: "A wrestler? That must have been unusual for the time?"
Dennis: "Yes. She was from Birmingham so you can imagine what she was like. We’ll say no more about that."
Interviewer: "Did you ever go and see her wrestle?"
Dennis: "No, no she’d do it in the pub. If you didn’t behave yourself she’d come around the bar and give you a foreman."
