When I first started working in Liverpool I used to get the bus from Heswall down to Woodside and go across on the ferry and I’d walk up from the ferry and up into Church Street. That was a good start to the day and I’m part of the brigade that walked round and round on the decks of the Mersey ferry. It was one way traffic and everybody, including me with a walking stick and a brief case and a bowler hat and I’ve still got the bowler hat! Everybody walked around the deck as their morning constitutional; it was a sight to behold that.
