Blacklers store, a Liverpool institution from early in the century, was famous for its Christmas grotto. In the 1960s it was still a thriving departmental store and its annual grotto was eagerly looked forward to by kids of all ages, we'll take a look at the grottos of 1968 and 1969. The illuminated star shaped ball on the roof was borrowed from Blackpool lights, each year the grotto had a different theme. The keen eyed would notice the reuse of some models each year with the characters outwards appearance changed slightly to suit the new theme. What did you ask Father Christmas for in 1968?
