Mapping Memory National Museums LiverpoolSeaman's Dispensary
Transcript for Russell Jones
The reason the Seamen's Dispensary was horrendous to go to at any time; right opposite there was a bag warehouse where all rough women worked making sacking bags. As people were going in, they all thought everyone that was going there had sexually transmitted diseases but you could go in there for anything, teeth, anything. So all these women were screaming at you, dirty things, horrible things, I won't repeat it; calling you a dirty B and all that. Nobody wants to go, everyone went in like that (puts face behind hands) hiding their face.
