About Patrick

Patrick Coyne was born in Ballyheane, County Mayo, Ireland in 1891. The family home was at Buncorn, Castlebar, County Mayo. In 1915 Patrick had an address at 88 Marsh Lane, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.

He served as a trimmer in the Engineering Department on board the Lusitania and was killed, aged 24 years, when she was sunk.

His body was not one of those which was recovered and identified afterwards, so he is commemorated on the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Tower Hill, London, where he is recorded as being Patrick Coyle, which was the name recorded in the Cunard files.
