Peter Gavan was born in Mayo, County Mayo, Ireland in 1877.
He served as a trimmer in the Engineering Department on board the Lusitania, and was killed when she was sunk. He was aged 38 years.
As his body was never recovered and identified after the disaster, his name is embossed on the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Tower Hill, London.
