Hugh Hillhouse was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire in 1886, the son of Luke and Mary Elizabeth Hillhouse. The family home was at 57 Argyle Street South, Birkenhead, Cheshire,
He served as a trimmer in the Engineering Department on board the Lusitania and was killed when she was sunk. He was aged 28 years.
His body was not found and identified afterwards, so he is commemorated on the Mercantile Marine War Memorial at Tower Hill, London.
