Harold Joseph Wright was born in Ormskirk, Lancashire in 1900, the son of Benjamin and Ellen Wright. The family home was at 2, Ashlar Road, Waterloo, Liverpool, Lancashire.
He served as a stewards' boy in the Stewards' Department on board the Lusitania and he did not survive the sinking. He was aged only 14 years and as such was one of the youngest crew members to die that day.
As his body was not recovered and identified afterwards, he is commemorated on the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Tower Hill, London.
