Background information on National Museums Liverpool
We hold outstanding collections - well over one million objects covering art, history and science. Many of these collections are displayed in our venues (outlined below), which will be joined by the Museum of Liverpool, opening in 2010/11. Our activities include initiatives to widen public access to our collections, and pioneering work with interactive exhibitions, demonstrators and role-players. We offer special services for schools, programmes of temporary exhibitions, public events, lectures and courses. We also carry out and publish research into our collections and on fine and decorative art, natural sciences, social, industrial and maritime history, and archaeology and ethnology. Admission to all of our venues, events and activities is free.
