This motorbike and sidecar belongs to Harry Potter’s loyal friend Hagrid, the gamekeeper at Hogwarts. It was parked in the Museum of Liverpool atrium for a few weeks during summer 2016.
The bike was given to Hagrid by Sirius Black. In one incredible scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1, Harry and Hagrid embark on a dangerous chase, including a hair-raising journey through an underground road tunnel. The scene was filmed in the Birkenhead Queensway tunnel.
The bike is a Royal Enfield, Bullet 500 with a 499cc petrol engine. It was registered in 2009 and modified for the film in the same year, including having this sidecar fitted.
St Helen’s born Director David Yates directed the film in 2009, and he returned to Liverpool in 2015 to film a new adventure returning us to the wizarding world created by JK Rowling, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Key scenes were filmed at the Cunard Building and in St George’s Hall and the film was released in November 2016.
On loan from Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden Limited.
