When goalkeeper Gordon Banks helped England win the World Cup he became a national hero. Liverpool fans had always welcomed him, even when his brilliance kept their heroes at bay.
When Banks retired in 1973 Bill Shankly shocked him on his next visit to Anfield by leading him towards the Kop who raised the roof with an emotional final salute. Here Banks and Shanks share the Kop's adulation.
