The Liverpool MapMuseum of Liverpool themes and displays
Call for expressions of interestArtists working in any medium are invited to submit an expression of interest to create a new Liverpool Map. The people of Merseyside and those with Liverpool connections worldwide are deciding where they think the boundaries of Liverpool really lie, geographically, historically and culturally. The results gathered will contribute towards the source material for the Liverpool Map artwork. The map could embrace local, national and international areas, highlighting Liverpool’s global influences. The Liverpool Map is currently being formed by the votes and contributions of Liverpool Daily Post readers and the project is part of Open Culture. The commissioned artist/s will interpret the outcomes of the Liverpool Daily Post open vote, creating a legacy for the museum that has truly been directed by the people of Liverpool. The new map will be displayed in the Museum of Liverpool when it opens in 2010. It will have a prominent position on a free standing wall (height 3.5m, width 3m, with a depth of up to 1m floor space available in front of the wall).
The artists fee for the creation of the new Liverpool map is £20,000. This does not include materials and installation costs. How to submit an expression of interestRequirements for the expression of interest:
