The Merseyside Archaeological Service (MAS) operates in line with professional archaeological operating standards, as required for membership of the Institute of Field Archaeologists (IFA). The Archaeological Officer is a full member of the IFA and is the nominated Merseyside representative of the Association of Local Government Archaeological Officers.
