Custodial neglect
This is when owners of objects or museum staff neglect pieces in their care. This can cover:
- physical neglect, like leaving light sensitive materials in bright sunlight or not handling them properly,
and
- not recording important details about objects so that information is lost. It is important that information
about an object, such as what it is, where it came from, who made it and how old it is, is kept with the object.
