Kevin Bacon's 2008 film, 'Frost/Nixon', is an adaptation of the play of the same name about the Watergate scandal, in which he plays Jack Brennan. The story of another Brennan is told in the Merseyside Maritime Museum...

02 Robert Henry Brennan

Robert Henry Brennan was the senior engineer officer on duty on the Empress of Ireland on the night of her tragic sinking in the Saint Lawrence river in May 1914. Brennan survived and was back at sea just 5 months later. Several of Brennan's personal effects are on display in the Titanic, Lusitania and the Forgotten Empress gallery, including a blanket that one of his rescuers gave to him.

Despite her name, the Empress of Ireland was actually a Canadian ship, owned by the Canada Pacific Line. Another 'Ireland' in the Pacific ocean is also represented at World Museum...
