Create your own fashion designs

Have you got a passion for fashion? Do you think you would make a brilliant designer? Then have fun creating your very own designs with our print-off colouring sheets.

To celebrate the Norman Parkinson: Portraits In Fashion exhibition at the Lady Lever Art Gallery, our learning section have come up with these two funky templates of a 1950s style man and woman for you to design clothes for.

You could print off the templates and draw directly onto the paper to create eye-catching pictures for your wall. Or you could use the templates as paper dolls and create paper clothes to dress them. Simply cut out the figures then create your own designs on blank paper. Then cut round your designs, remembering to leave small tabs around the edges to fold over your paper doll.

Do you still need inspiration?

In the A Passion For Fashion exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery you can see lots of designs from a Liverpool lady’s wardrobe. Mrs Tinne, loved clothes and shopping. She collected clothes with lots of different patterns, colours and fabrics. Have a look on the web pages.

If you prefer the modern look, why not visit Street Life at the National Conservation Centre for some ideas? ‘Street Life’ includes photographs of all different types of people from Liverpool – all with their own ideas about fashion and what makes a good outfit.
