Grey Seal

Liverbird Wildlife Discovery Cruises 2006

Did you know that the Mersey and its bay are home to thousands of species of animals, birds, fish and other creatures?

If you'd like to learn more about these seals, shearwaters and skuas, or already have a fascination with all things furry, feathered and finned then our wildlife cruises are for you. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, National Museums Liverpool and Mersey Ferries have teamed up again to offer special spotters' days out on board a ferry.

There are three dates to choose from: Family Cruises on Monday 7 and Monday 21 August, and a Bird Watchers' Cruise (beginners are very welcome) on Friday 15 September.

The Clore Natural History Centre, Aquarium and Curatorial demonstrators will be on board for all cruises to identify and advise; doing plankton trawls, using the video microscopes as well as supplying binoculars and telescopes. The cruise will take in most of the mouth of the Mersey Estuary and there will be a chance to see a range of seabirds and marine mammals including Atlantic grey seals.
