Spiked dog collar

leather dog collar with spikes

This collar was worn by a working or fighting dog in the Liverpool area. It was most probably made in the early part of the nineteenth century. We can tell this by the handmade blacksmiths nails which are used as a spikes set into the leather collar.

The collar was kindly donated to the collections of the Museum of Liverpool Life in 1981.

Accession number 1981.2013
