Faith

Welcome to the first in a series of online exhibitions from the collections of National Museums Liverpool. Every few weeks we will take a theme and build a fascinating exhibition around it, featuring objects from all eight of our venues.

This exhibition looks at Faith and how it is expressed in everything from conventional books and paintings to more curious objects like inkstands and ship models.

The theme coincided with 2004 being marked year of 'Faith in One City' in the build-up to Liverpool's European Capital of Culture celebrations in 2008. It was the second of a series of themed years celebrating Liverpool's unique culture, diverse religious communities, individual and personal beliefs and confidence in the city and its future. You can learn more about the Capital of Culture festivities at the official website.
