Locarno handbill, 1963

Accession number MLL.2005.41.6

Handbill with outline of a beetle around the text

Some very lucky people who attended this event at the Locarno in 1963 can now claim that The Beatles were their Valentines! They had to share them with at least 500 ladies, but most fans of the band probably wouldn't have minded that at all.

The text on the handbill reads:

'Locarno Liverpool
THURSDAY FEB. 14TH 63

We present your Valentines
THE BEATLES

This handbill was originally displayed in the exhibition Collecting The Beatles. at the former Museum of Liverpool Life in 2005-2006.

Fans of The Beatles can see another romantic object from the collection at the Museum of Liverpool. The 'All You Need Is Love' bedspread, from John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Montreal 'Bed-In For Peace' in room 1742 of the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, Montreal in 1969, is on display in the Wondrous Place gallery.
