This booklet describes the replacement of John Warrington Wood's statue, The Spirit of Liverpool, which sat on the roof of the Walker Art Gallery for more than a century. The original was installed in 1877, but by 1993 it had decayed to such an extent that it had to be first removed and then replaced with a new marble replica carved in China. 13 black and white illustrations.
