A limited edition mounted print with an advertising poster for OMD produced for the concerts being held at the Museum of Liverpool on 1st and 2nd November 2014.
Created by Andy, this poster was never used as OMD preferred the designs produced by Peter Saville, a graphic artist notable for his work with Factory Records. He went on to become the band's visual arts consultant for many of their stage sets, singles and album releases in the 1980s.
Saville and collaborator Ben Kelly were instrumental in creating some of pop music’s most iconic album covers, including the perforated steel sheet design on OMD’s first album cover.
Saville also introduced Andy to Edward Wadsworth’s 1919 painting, ‘Dazzle-ships in Dry dock at Liverpool’, inspiring the concept for the music and artwork for the 1983 album Dazzle Ships. The album has retrospectively been hailed by critics as a ‘masterpiece’ and ‘lost classic’.
