In 2004 an important new Viking silver hoard was discovered near Huxley, Cheshire, comprising 21 silver arm-rings and an ingot. This series of papers, by specialists in Viking-age studies, sets out the latest research into Scandinavian activity in the North West and Wales, and discusses the origins, dates and nature of the objects. It also questions why the hoard was buried and by whom, then considers it alongside other Viking hoards in Britain and Ireland.
