Celluloid plastic and diamanté, sold by the Bon Marché, Liverpool, made in France, about 1925-35

Designers of costume jewellery often combined the new forms of plastic which were developed during the 1920s and 1930s with more expensive-looking materials such as diamanté pastes. The resulting pieces recalled the glamour of Hollywood movies but were more affordable than real diamonds.
