'La Cupola' espresso coffee-maker

A simply designed coffee with a large dome lid which has a ball on top.

Cast aluminium and polyamide, designed by Aldo Rossi for Alessi, Italy, 1988

This dome-shaped coffee maker illustrates the way in which Postmodern designers scale down classic architectural shapes to produce everyday household objects. A cupola is the name given to a domed roof, often used in churches and cathedrals.
