Jug

Earthenware, made in England, about 1820-1840

Different coloured clays are used to produce the decorative effect on this jug. The clays are laid upon each other, kneaded together and then sliced. The slices are then pressed into two hollow moulds. The two halves have been joined together and the seams smoothed over before firing.
