Figure of a horse

Silver, made by Lucius Movio from a model by Adrian Jones, London, 1896-97

A wax or clay sculpture of the horse was made and a mould was taken from it. Molten silver was then poured into the mould which, when removed, revealed an exact copy, in silver, of the original sculpture. The horse portrayed was the winner of the 1896 Grand National and was called 'The Soarer' .

Bequeathed by Lord Wavertree, 1933
