QUESTIONS IN THE OPERATIVE PERIOD
- When/how acquired by Ventura
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- His arms and initials carved on the relief. He was the Venetian governor of Trogir, Dalmatia in the 1470's
- Wife or widow of the Florentine dealer Euginio Ventura who provided works for Goering, exchanging 15th-17th century Italian paintings and sculptures for looted French and Dutch Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings. However, there is no evidence that Ventura's collection of Renaissance Italian paintings and sculpture, which he was using to exchange, had been acquired illegally.
