  1. These were not among the 4 Guardi sketches which were going to be traded with Linz Museum by Dequoy, formerly of Wildenstein, in a failed exchange in 1943.
  2. Information about French provenance comes from A. Morassi Guardi (1973) 1, pp111-2, 329, nos. 114-5.
  3. Bought from an auction in France under the name of Tiepolo. Previous French owner refused to be identified, letter in gallery files 9/6/1965.
