About this object

This drawing was made by the artist when he was planning the composition for his epic oil painting ‘Dante’s Dream’, also owned by the Walker Art Gallery. The focus in this drawing is on the figure of Beatrice on the right. Rossetti modelled the character on his lover Jane Morris (1839 - 1914).
