This watercolour shows the Valley of Mawddach in Wales. The mountain, Cader Idris, is visible in the distance behind the trees in the foreground.

Varley made a number of watercolours of the valley looking looking towards Llaneltyd Bridge, with Cader Idris on the left. All are to some extent idealised compositions.
