National Museums Liverpool is working on a project called 'Watermark'. Its aim is to create an online gallery of the Walker Art Gallery’s collection of over 8000 works on paper. The collection spans the early Medieval and Renaissance period to the present day and features works of international significance.
A selection of works are now available online
We have launched a new online resource with a selection of works by landscape artists of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries from our art galleries collections.
During 2014 more works from the Walker’s collection of works on paper will be added to the online gallery. Highlights of the collection include the Weld-Blundell collection of Old Master drawings and the Walker’s world famous pre-Raphaelite watercolours and drawings.
More recently, the collection has grown with acquisitions of work by contemporary artists including Paula Rego (born 1935) and Helen Chadwick (1953 -1996). 'Watermark' will help to provide access to this important collection.
Please note that this is not a complete inventory of our works on paper collections.
'Watermark' is funded by the Molly Tomlinson Bequests.
