Coffee pot

Pewter with cane covered handles, designed by Nick Munro, Chester, 1999

The body of the coffee pot has been spun on a lathe. First a flat, piece of pewter was folded round and soldered to form a sleeve. The sleeve was then placed over a specially shaped pattern called a chuck. The chuck revolved at high speed and special steel tools were held against the spinning metal, forcing it to take the shape of the chuck underneath.
