Gold and coral, made in England about 1860
The centre part of the brooch is made by twisting and knotting gold wire around a gold plate, on which is mounted a horse's head carved in pink coral. Once twisted and soldered in place the wire forms a lightweight yet strong support for three pendants, each shaped like a Greek amphora.
