Glass and metal, possibly made in France, about 1860-1880
Small pieces of cut black glass have been glued with shellac onto metal base plates. The base plates are then linked together to form a necklace. Black glass jewellery was made in imitation of jet jewellery, produced in Whitby, Yorkshire.
