The suit was designed by Douglas Millings, a tailor who began designing clothing for famous people in the 1950s. His first showbusiness client was Cliff Richard.
It was made as stage wear for John Lennon along with a batch of identical suits. The suit is grey with black cord edging, blue rayon satin linings, side vents, flared cuffs and three buttons. This style of suit was also made in fawn, powder blue, black and navy.
There is a tailor's label inside with the words 'John Lennon' inked in blue.
