Painted and gilt porcelain, made at the Davenport factory, Longport, Staffordshire, about 1830-40
The ornately-modelled handle and spout of this teapot, as well as its scrolling painted and gilt decoration are all typical of the Rococo Revival of the 1830s and 1840s. This revival of the earlier style took the original Rococo designs and made them even more decorative and complicated.
