This display showcases work created by local primary schools who have taken part in the ‘Take One Picture’ project.
All of the works on display this year have been inspired by two paintings from the Walker’s collection, ‘Off to the Fishing Grounds’ by Stanhope Forbes and ‘One of the Family’ by Frederick Cotman.
The Walker worked in partnership with Edge Hill University and the National Gallery, London to equip Initial Teacher Trainees with the knowledge, skills and confidence to use paintings in their teaching. ‘Take One Picture’ focuses on the use of a single painting as the starting point for cross-curricular learning.
This wonderful display demonstrates the huge potential of our collections to support learning inside and outside the classroom.
