Waerndorfer was a leading patron of the Wiener Werkstatte, the luxury design workshop of the Vienna Secession.
In 1903 the Mackintoshes were commissioned to design a music room for his Vienna town house.
This is a design for one of four panels which adorned a decorative dividing curtain separating the music room from the dining room by Josef Hoffmann.
